Getting Involved

Charter schools are new to Washington State and there are many ways to get involved.  Like many of the charter schools in Washington, the Commission offers flexible volunteer and internship opportunities for students and community members.  If you are passionate about education and making a difference in your community, you will enjoy engaging with the Commission.  Also, periodically the Commission will have job openings and will post those announcements on this page too.

School Board Meetings

Each school has regular board meetings; by law the actions/discussions at these meetings are available for public viewing. See links below for board information.

Want to make a difference in the life of a student?  Whether it’s helping people sign-in at a Public Forum or participating on a charter school application review team, there are multiple ways you can make a difference. To learn more about the variety of volunteer opportunities available or to sign up as a volunteer, please contact Commission staff via email:

While providing the benefits of volunteerism, our internships are hands-on learning opportunities for students to develop skills working in a complex yet invigorating office environment and with charter school staff, various state agencies, and community members. Interns are invited to work alongside and under the supervision of experienced Commission staff to provide meaningful and educationally rich learning opportunities.  Full- or part-time internships are available. Preference is given to undergraduate and graduate level students. If you are interested in becoming an intern, please contact Commission staff via email:
